The Yorkshire Air Ambulance Paramedics dropped into Garforth & District Lions Community Gala on Sunday to say thank you for the £1000 donation towards the operation of this vital emergency service. This was just one of the attraction at the 9th Annual Gala held on Glebelands in Garforth.
The day started with a parade of floats decorated by local schools, and youth organisations with the £100 Best float Prize going to First Garforth Scouts Burma Troop.
The arena events, which included Maypole dancing by St Benedict's Primary School pupils, Boxo the Clown's magic and The Leeds City Pipe band, were all popular features. As ever the children's fun races had plenty of entrants and the mum' and dads even got a chance.
This fun day gave an opportunity to other charities to raise money themselves and Arthritis Research were not only delighted with the £135 they collected but also with the £100 first prize for best stall.
The whole day was presided over by Gala Queen, 10 year old Sophie Waterhouse from St Benedicts Primary School and she did a great job in judging the various competitions along with Club President Dave Hill.
